Harvard Citation Styles in Citavi

Overview

There is no single, universally defined "Harvard style." Instead, Harvard refers to a broad family of citation styles that follow the author-date citation method.

While individual styles differ in formatting details, they generally share the following characteristics:

• References are cited directly within the text.

• The author's name and/or publication year appear in the citation.

  • Example: (Smith 2017)

  • Example: Mayer (2012)

• Citations often include page numbers when referring to a specific passage.

  • Example: (Smith 2017, pp. 14–15)

• Sources in the bibliography are arranged alphabetically by author.
