Sonia: Adding Students to Placement Groups

Introduction

NOTE: Terminology used below is Sonia default terminology.

The subject used to add students to a placement group is referred to as “placement group subject”. This is the subject (i.e., class) for which the placements in this placement group are required.

In some cases, the students are not yet enrolled in the required subject, meaning the placement officer must use a different subject for adding students to the placement group. 

 

Adding Students

Whether adding students to a placement group based on the actual placement subject or a different subject, follow the steps below.

 

1. On the Home tab, double-click a placement group to open it
2. Click the Students button within the placement group
3. Click the Add button at the far right of the grid to add new students
   1. A dialog box will open. Select the following items in this order:

• • 1. Subject Status
    2. Year
    3. Subject 
       • Pro tip: If you have a long list of subjects, start typing any sequence of characters found in the Subject Code or Name, and the dropdown list will go to the first instance of that sequence.

 

4. Semester

 

1. 2. Optionally, use Add Criteria to include additional criteria for further filtering (e.g., Campus, Study Mode, custom field value)
   3. Click the Search button at the right
   4. Select the students who need to be added to the placement group

1. 1. To select them all, tick the “select all” box to the left of Code

1. 5. Click the Add button at the bottom right

4. Save the placement group
