XLSTAT: Distribution Sampling in Excel

 

Background

To demonstrate distribution sampling, we want to generate one sampled in a Normal N(2,2) distribution (mean = 2, standard deviation (sigma) = 2).

 

Setting Up

• Open XLSTAT.

• Click on the Preparing data menu and select the Distribution sampling feature.

 

• Once you've clicked on the button, the dialog box appears.

In the General tab:

• Select the normal distribution.

• Enter mean = 2, standard deviation (sigma) = 2.

• Enter 1000 in the Sample Size.

• Enter 1 in the Number Sample field, as we only want to generate one sample.

• Activate or deactivate the option Display the report header option according to your needs.

• Click on the OK button to launch the computations.

• The sample is displayed on a new Excel sheet.

 

Interpreting the Results

The table displayed below corresponds to the generation of a 1000 cases normal N(2,2) sample.
